Guthia Mosque

Baitul Aman Jame-Masjid or Guthia mosque is the most famous mosque in Barisal. It is also one of the utmost fine-looking mosque in Bangladesh and of the biggest Mosque in Asia.  It is located at Changuria Village in Guthia Union of Uzirpur Police Station in Barisal. This huge Mosque has been built on 14 acres of land. The Mosque was designed by a group of Bangladeshi architects. Famous politician- Sarfuddin Ahmed Santu, started construction of Baitul Aman Jame Mosque and Eidgah Complex at the end of 2003.

It was established on December 16, 2003, Guthia Mosque is also a sightseer spot in Bangladesh. The compound was inaugurated on 20^th October 2006, with three great lakes, a Mosque, an Orphanage, a Madrasa, an Eidgah and 58 meters high minaret fashioned of white marble. Inside the Mosque, about 1500 worshipers can perform prayers in the congregation and 5000 extra on the exterior. There are distinct prayer places for men and women. On entering through the main gate of the mosque and Eidgah, a pond is seen on the right side. The pond is bordered by vibrant flowers and fruit trees. The pond was dug in such a way that the whole reflection of the mosque is seen in the water. There is a mosaic ghat in the pond. Two springs are at the entrance of the mosque just opposite the ghat.

There is a helipad in the west-south corner of the mosque. The round-the-clock control system has its own two generators. The mosque uses high-quality glass, frames, and boss speakers.

Every day thousands of visitors come to see this unique Gutia Mosque and perform prayers. In the Mosque Complex are preserved soil of Holy Kaaba Sharif, Zamzam well water, Arafat Maidan, Jabal Rahmat, Jabal Nur, Birthplace of Prophet Mohammad, Khalifa's graveyard, other famous mosques and famous places, which visitors can see.

The center of the main mosque is located to the west of the pond. To the north end, there is a madrasa named Malika Begum Hafizia Madrasa and Orphanage – named after the founder’s mother. 

The huge lakes on three sides of the Guthia Mosque Complex serve as a security barrier around the complex. There is a cemetery on two and a half acres of land in the compound. The colossal minaret about 193 feet high is to the south of the main mosque. It has nine large and small domes. Ayatul Kursi (the most Important of verses of Holy Quran), Surah Ar-Rahman, and other Quran verses are written in diverse places around the mosque edifice.

Apart from this, to enrich the beauty of the mosque building, design work is done in different places with stained glass, precious marble stones, granite, and ceramics. There are also light fittings around the mosque and Eidgah complex – which look glorious at night-time. The design of the Mosques imitates the designs of different mosques in different countries of the Middle East. People of the Islamic faith and other religions are gathering every day to see this gorgeous-looking mosque and to spend some valuable time in its peaceful and elegant complex. Even tourists are coming to see the eye-catching mosque in Barisal every day.
