Marayan Dong

Marayan Dong is a stunning location known for its natural beauty in Bandarban, Bangladesh. This hill is located within the Mirinja range with a height of roughly 1680 feet in Alikadam, Bandarban. This hill is known as Marayan Thong Jadi/Marayan Dong/Maraithong by many people.

Marayan Dong is surrounded by verdant hills, dense forests, and vibrant flora, creating a captivating environment for nature enthusiasts. There is a Buddhist shrine at the very top of the hill, with openings all around and a château at the summit. It houses a massive Buddha statue. It takes roughly five kilometers of mountain road to reach the highest top of this mountain. The route from the beginning of the trail to the very top is steep. The Jadi is now undergoing a comprehensive makeover. The region might have streams, small rivers, or water bodies that add to the picturesque setting. The presence of water in the landscape enhances the tranquility and beauty of the area.

Various ethnic groups live on Marayan Tang Hill. Among them are Tripura, Marma, and Murung. Marmas live beneath the hill, whereas Murungs live on top of it.It may also host diverse wildlife and biodiversity, including various species of plants, animals, and birds. For nature lovers, observing the local flora and fauna can be an exciting experience.

How to go

There is direct bus service from the capital Dhaka to Alikadam. Before reaching Alikadam bus stand you have to get down at a place called Abashik. From there it will take about 2 hours to reach the top of Marayan Tong hill.
