
Tindu is the biggest union of Thanchi subdistrict of Bandarban district. This union is an area of 1,12,640 acres (455.84 sq km). The Sangu River passes through Tindu. The area boasts lush green landscapes, rolling hills, and serene valleys, creating a picturesque setting that enchants visitors.

When is the best time to visit?
Tindu can be visited at any time of year. Tindu and its surroundings will be photographed in various forms at different times. If you visit during the rainy season, you will see stormy Sangu and cloud movement; similarly, if you visit during the winter, you will be surprised by the sight of frozen clouds and fog around the Sangkh river.
How to go:
To go to Tindu, you must first go to the Bandarban district headquarters. Then from Bandarban to Thanchi via boat across the Sangu River to Tindu Bazar.
Thanchi to Bandarban:
The distance between Bandarban and Thanchi upazila is around 79 kilometers. There are two options for getting from Bandarban to Thanchi: bus or reserved jeep. Local bus departs for Thanchi from the Thanchi bus terminal in Bandarban. The bus journey will take about 4-5 hours. The Jeep/Chander gari would take between 3-3.5 hours. A single car can easily transport 12-14 persons. You will pass through Milanchari, Chimbuk, and Nilgiris on the way to Thanchi. This long hilly hike will refresh your eyes and mind as you take in the beautiful scenery surrounding you.
Thanchi to Tindu:
When you arrive in Thanchi, you must arrange for a guide. It is not possible to go on a Tindu tour without a guide. Anyone with the authorization of the Subdistrict Prosecution can act as a guide. You can either travel to Thanchi or chat to a guide you already know to fix the guide. After you have fixed the guide, you must obtain authorization from Thanchi BGB Camp/Police Station. All traveling members' names, addresses, phone numbers, destinations, and lengths of stay should be written down and presented on paper. And your advisor will assist you with these chores.
After obtaining permission, small engine boats should be hired from Thanchi Ghat. 4-5 people can go in one boat. It takes about two hours to go to Tindu by boat from Thanchi. If the water is low in Sangu, it may take a little longer to get off the boat and walk at some places. On the way, the form of Sangu River will enchant you.
Accommodation and Meals
The tribals' bamboo-wood Machang huts and the bungalows built by women members of the Union Parishad provide lodging in Tindu. You can also spend the night camping if you like. The tribal dwellings there are quite clean and welcoming. There are no hotels where you can dine, but they will cook for you wherever you stay. If you like, you can bring it from Thanchi's market and organize the cooking yourself. Fresh fish from Shankha river or mountain chicken, as well as grains and mashed potatoes are also available here in menu.
