Dim Pahar, Alikadam

Dim Pahar was once thought to be an inaccessible hill. It is located between the upazilas of Alikadam and Thanchi. Most amazing fact about this hill is, it marks the boundary between the two police stations. Because the shape of this 2500 foot high mountain top resembles an egg, the locals dubbed it Dim Pahar. In Bengali language Dim means Egg and Pahar means hill.

The highest road in Bangladesh has been built across these mountains, reaching a height of 2,500 feet above sea level. This road and Dim Hill have become very popular among adventurous travelers. The Bangladesh Army's engineering department took a long time to create this road on Dim Pahar. This 35-kilometer-long road cost approximately 120 crore BDT to build. The mountain is South Asia's second highest road.

How to Go:

There is direct bus service available from the capital, Dhaka, to Alikadam. Besides, you can go from Dhaka to Chakria in Cox's Bazar district by bus, and from there to Alikadam by local chander gari, reserve chander gari, or local bus. From Alikadam, Chander Gari can be reserved, or you can also hire a motorcycle and proceed to Dim Pahar along the Alikadam-Thanchi road.

You can also go to Dim Pahar from Dhaka across Bandarban. From Bandarban, local buses or Chander Gari are convenient to reach Thanchi Bazar, and there you will get another vehicle for going to Dim Pahar.
