Nilgiri is situated near Thanchi Upazila in the Bandarban district, which is part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. It is one of the highest peaks in Bangladesh, standing at an elevation of around 2,350 feet (750 meters) above sea level. Nilgiri will satisfy your yearning to touch the sky. Nilgiri is known as the "Darjeeling of Bengal." The form of the green hills and clouds looming across the horizon will captivate anybody. The Nilgiri Tourist Center, located at the top of the Nilgiri Hills, is one of the most attractive tourist attractions in Bangladesh and managed by the Bangladesh Army. Nilgiri is a 2200-foot-high mountain located roughly 50 kilometers from the Bandarban district headquarters. The area around Nilgiri is inhabited by the Biate tribal community, adding to the cultural diversity of the region.
The limitless splendor of nature and the rolling clouds in the mountains will captivate you as you gaze out from the Nilgiri. If the sky is clear, you may view Bagalek, Keokradong, Bangladesh's fifth highest mountain peak, the beaches of Cox's Bazar and Chittagong Port, and the Sangu River, in addition to the mountain ranges from the top of the Nilgiri.

How to go:
To visit Nilgiri, you must go to Bandarban first. There are various AC/Non AC busses that ply from Dhaka’s Sayedabad, Gabtali, Kallyanpur, Abdullahpur and Arambagh to Bandarban. It takes 8-10 hours to go reach Bandarban by bus.
If you want to go by train, you can go to Chittagong by Sonar Bangla, Suvarna Express, Turna Nishita, Mahanagar Godhuli trains from Dhaka to Chittagong. Class wise rent varies. Besides, you can directly come to Chittagong from Dhaka by air. You can reach Bandarban from Baddarhat as well as Dumpara bus stand, Chittagong.
Bandarban to Nilgiri:
From Bandarban, you can take a Jeep/Chander car/Mahendra/CNG or a local bus to Nilgiri. It is best to bring a reserved car. This will allow you to explore more of your surroundings. If you want to go and return in one day, you must organize a car from the Bandarban jeep station. Chander automobiles can seat 12-14 people, Landcruiser type jeeps can seat 7-8 people, tiny jeeps can seat 4-5 people, and CNG vehicles can seat 3-4 people. It will take two to two and a half hours if there are no problems on the route. If you want to view clouds in Nilgiri, you must depart early in the morning and arrive by 7-8 a.m.
If you have fewer members or want to go at a reduced cost, you can take a local bus, but it will take longer. The bus departs from Thanchi bus stand after 1 hour. If you like, you can share the fare with any other group traveling to Nilgiri.
