Boga Lake which is known as “Baga” or “Bagakain”, is located 17 km from Ruma upazilla in Bandarban district of Bangladesh. It is renowned for being a naturally formed lake and its breathtaking beauty. It is situated at an altitude of about 1,246 feet above sea level. The lake's crystal-clear water adds to its allure, reflecting the mesmerizing beauty of the surrounding landscape.
What makes Boga Lake unique is its origin, believed to be a result of a landslide that created a depression filled with rainwater. Access to Boga Lake often involves a challenging trek through hilly terrain and dense forests, offering adventurers a thrilling and scenic journey. The trek is part of the allure for many tourists who seek an off-the-beaten-path experience.
Besides its natural beauty, Boga Lake holds cultural significance among local tribal communities, such as the Bawm and Khumi tribes. The lake is considered sacred by some of these indigenous groups, adding a cultural depth to its significance.

How to go:
You must first come to Bandarban to go to Boga lake. Fom Dhaka's Arambagh, Fakirapool, Abdullahpur and Sayedabad you can start your journey by getting into any bus. It takes 8-10 hours to go to Bandarban from Dhaka by bus.
If you want to go by train, you can go to Chittagong by Sonar Bangla, Suvarna Express, Turna Nishita, Mahanagar Godhuli trains from Dhaka to Chittagong. Besides, you can directly come to Chittagong from Dhaka by air.
From Baddarhat in Chittagong, bus cost is very reasonable. You can come to Bandarban by bus from Dhampara bus stand in Chittagong.
Bandarban to Bagalek
If you wish to go to Boga Lake from Bandarban, you must first go to Ruma Bazar. The distance between Bandarban and Ruma Bazar is 48 kilometers. Ruma Bazaar is accessible by local bus or Chander Car/Jeep. To travel by bus, head to Ruma bus station in Bandarban. The journey will take approximately 3 hours. If you travel in a group, you can take a Jeep/Chander gari to Ruma Bazar.
After reaching Ruma Bazar, you need to fix the guide first to go to Boga lake. Taking a guide is mandatory. Permission to go to Bagalek should be obtained from Ruma Bazar Army Camp before departure. The identity of all traveling members will have to be submitted in writing for permission. The guide will help you to do these tasks. And definitely remember that it is not allowed to go from Rumabazar to Bagalek after 4 pm.
The distance from Rumabazar to Boga lake is 17 km. After taking permission, Land Cruiser Jeep or Chander Car should be hired from Rumabazar. 8-15 people can go in one car. The guide usually take care of it.
Accommodation and Food facilities in Boga lake:
There is no decent hotel or resort in Boga lake. The tribal people offers some small cottages where you have to stay in the natural environment. One room cottage can accommodate 5-6 people. Besides, separate cottages can be arranged for couples or women
Food is normally arranged in tribal house. Food packages are usually available here. Meals are arranged with rice, eggs, potatoes, chicken. For this, you have to tell in advance what to eat and how many people will eat. The cottages often offers barbecue facilities, you can buy chickens and sit by the lake and enjoy this arrangement of a different environment.
