Friendship Center is basically an office of a private developmental organization, located in Madanerpara village of Kanchipara Union of Phulchari Upazila, just 5 km away from Gaibandha district town. In 2002, this organization named Friendship started its journey. Their aim is to improve the quality of life of marginalized and underprivileged communities by training the underprivileged people to make them self-reliant.
Because of its stunning architectural features,it has already won several national and international awards. Kashef Mahbub Chowdhury,architect of the building was moved by Mahasthangarh Buddhist Bihar, and from there he got the idea of building the centre completely underground. The roof of the building is located on the ground level, and the roof is decorated with eye-catching green grass. Therefore, this concept is unique to natives as well as foreigners.
This extraordinary facility was built on November 18, 2012 along the Gaibandha-Balasi road. And it houses a training center, sports, library, and catering facilities, as well as many administrative services. The friendship center, which spans approximately 8 bighas, also has internet access, its own electricity system, non-toxic vegetable cultivation grounds, and a medicinal plant garden.
This place is not open to the public. Although, you can visit friendship center if you take permission in advance.
The green grass covered rooms of the Friendship Center are naturally cool. The rooms have modern ventilation system for proper entry of natural light as well. This magnificent building is rented out for organizing various meetings and gatherings for official puposes.
