The Kundo Pukur Shrine is basically the shrine of Mohiuddin Chishti (RA), who was a renowned Islamic saint. It is located in Kundo Pukur Union, 5 kilometers from Nilphamari Sadar Upazila. Locals call this shrine Kundo Pukur Majar. Hazrat Mohiuddin Chishti (RA) traveled from Persia to preach Islam in the Kundo Pukur area and died here. Since then his grave is reserved here and people who were his followers used to devote him through celebrating some rituals around his grave.
A mosque, a hermitage, and a big Pukur are part of the Kundo Pukur shrine complex. His death anniversary is held here every year on the 5th day of the Bengali month of Magh. A large number of devoted Muslims gather here from all over.
How to go
Nilphamari can be reached by road and rail from Dhaka. Direct buses to Nilphamari leave from Collegegate, Gabtali and Mohakhali in the capital. And you can go to Nilphamari by Nilsagar Express train from Kamalapur or Airport railway station. If you want to go from Dhaka in less time, you can go to Sayedpur and reach Nilphamari by domestic airlines. Kundu Pukur Shrine can be reached by local transport from Nilphamari town.
