“Achin Tree” is a suspicious tree with no name and no one knows how it grew. According to locals, this tree’s existence has been there for about more than 500 years. Because its growth is unclear, the villagers call it 'Achin,' which means 'unknown'. A massive Achin tree stands as an ode to its age in Kurigram District's Rajarhat Upazila. Except for tales, locals know nothing about the origin or identity of this tree. This tree, according to specialists, is of the Pakur species. According to legend, a group of museum visitors from Kamrup-Kamakhya in the Indian state of Assam planted this achin tree in the blink of an eye. Many believe that a Sage carried seedlings of a mysterious tree from the far west and planted them. That is why it is called the Achin tree.
The 'Achin tree' can be seen 5 kilometers north of Kurigram district town. A massive tree sits with its branches spread out in Joydev Hayat hamlet, Omar Majid Union, at the residence of the departed Darpan Narayan. An elderly man appears to be grasping the region with both hands. The Achin tree spreads its branches and takes up roughly 10% of the available space. The dead leaves of this fig-like shrub suddenly convert into new leaves, with each side having a different shape. Locals never witnessed a tree branch break in a natural disaster and adherents of the Hindu religion come every evening to worship; place Dakshina in the donation box.
