Nil sagar, Nilphamari

Nil Sagar is a delightful tourist destination located in the district of Nilphamari, Bangladesh. Another name of this lake is Binna Dighi. Additionally, Hindus claim that the great king who died in the battle of Kurukshetra, his last rites were held on the shores of this lake, as told in the Mahabharat. Many people also think that it was dug out so that Binnavati, the king's only daughter, may take a bath. It acquired the name “Binnadighi” for this reason.

In 1980, the then Deputy Commissioner inaugurated the renovation work of Dighi. Then he officially named it Nilsagaar. The recreation center is 17 km northwest of the district town along the Nilphamari-Debiganj-Panchgarh road.

The vast expanse of water, combined with lush greenery, creates a peaceful and refreshing ambiance. The name Nil Sagar is chosen in alliance with the sea. Nil Sagar is easily accessible by road, and transportation options are available from the nearby towns and cities. The journey to Nilphamari offers scenic views of the countryside. The distance from Dhaka to Nilphamari is 396 km and distance from Zer Point of Nilphamari district to Nil Sagar is 15 km. Reaching Nilphamari is very is via Syedpur and Rangpur, by any bus from Dhaka’s Gabtoli. If you want to go by train, you can start your journey from Kamlapur railway Station and reach Rangpur first. There are direct busses to reach Nilphamari from Rangpur.

Besides, you can easily reach Syedpur By air within 30 to 40 minutes. And from there you can reach Nilphamari. CNG and autorickshaws are available to go to Nil Sagar.
